Butter Otter is the youngest of the Otter siblings, who is 2 years old, as evidenced by her diaper. Though she speaks very little, she is kind and friendly in every way.

Profile[]

Baby Butter can often be seen carrying a bottle. If there is one thing that Baby Butter likes to do, it is giggle. She did generally speak in full sentences, but she is pretty articulate for her age and often imitates others' speech. She likes to play with Scootch Raccoon, who is possibly the same age as her, but he’s weaned and potty-trained. Unlike Peanut, Baby Butter has no issues with doing the Noodle Dance. She is generally happily and quickly joins the dance, and often spins around on her rear end while doing so.

Despite being given the choice, Baby Butter would rather participate in "boyish" activities like her brother Peanut, rather than something like joining a tea party with her older sister Jelly and Pinch. She is very fond of splashing in puddles of mud.

Appearance[]

Baby Butter has light brown fur, dot eyes and a single tooth, and lacks whiskers. Like her brother Peanut, her belly button is plainly visible. Butter wears small blue boots. Her tail sticks out through her diaper.

Website Description[]

There is nothing more adorable than a little-bitty otter, and Baby Butter is no exception. A 2-year-old (1 in the first 11 episodes of Season 1) girl, Baby Butter is happy all the time. She can spend endless hours making incredible sculptures out of mud, even if they look like shapeless lumps to everybody else. She loves the company of her older brother and sister. Butter always gets excited when her Mom makes her clam cookies with peanut butter and strawberry jelly on them. Yuuuummmmm!

Relationship with Jelly[]

Jelly and Baby Butter love each other a lot. Jelly is the oldest daughter and Baby Butter is the youngest daughter. Jelly and Baby Butter think that they know each other. They sometimes hug in some episodes. They first hugged in "A Tree Grows in Hoohaw" because Jelly states that it makes her think of her sister. Mostly Jelly hugs Peanut. But Jelly and Baby Butter are sisters that help each other out or think of each other when they're apart.

Quotes[]

  • "Yay-yay-yay!"
  • "Glub-glub!"
  • "Bubbles?"
  • "Tee hee hee!" - Most times, when she is happy
  • "Uh-oh!"
  • "Potty! Potty!" - A Very Surprising Party
  • "Hi, everybody! Hi, hi, hi!" - Playhouse Disney: Live On Tour (2000-01)

Trivia[]

  • Baby Butter is one of the two otters of the otter family who has brown (albeit a lighter shade) or gray fur like a real otter. She is light brown. The second character of the two --in the family-- is Ernest Otter (who is gray).
    • Also, she is the second of the two otters in the Otter family who lacks visible otter whiskers (the second one after Jelly).
  • She is the youngest of all of the Lake Hoohaw kids.
  • Unlike her brother and sister, Butter has dot eyes like many other characters in Jinkins' various series, including their father.
  • Baby Butter is absent in Munchy's No Big Deal, Easy Pickings, and The Thing That Almost Ate Hoohaw, and as such is the only Otter sibling to not appear in every episode. She is the 2nd girl who is a both a recurring and main character.
  • Throughout the series, Baby Butter's birthday has never been celebrated.
  • Although Mr. Bigdog was the last character to speak in PB&J Otter, the last original character to speak out of every character was Baby Butter.
  • She can play the triangle[1] and the xylophone.[2]
  • Baby Butter began potty training in A Very Surprising Party.
  • Most viewers mistake Butter for a boy. In fact, she is a girl, though she is a baby and looks more like her brother Peanut than her sister Jelly. In Nanner Says "I Do", Butter wears a floral pink dress like Jelly. The theme song also lists the family as "father, mother, sisters, brother", but the plural sound is easily missed. Quite a few episodes do refer to Baby Butter with female pronouns, but usually she is simply referred to by name.
